Getting Blogging

This website has been up for a few months now and has been rather static to say the least.

The blog has been a victim of me being too much of a perfectionist (how come everybody thinks they are a perfectionist?). I didn't want to go live until I got the design right and working in as many browsers as possible. Then I started work on using Rails to build a simple content management system. I got this working but couldn't get it quite right, so didn't use the site.

But by not using the site, I completely defeated its purpose. I've realised now that I need to just start blogging and add features as and when I get chance. I still want to add comments and dynamic reviews, but for the time being, I'm just going to get some use out of the site.

So I'm going to be blogging with a vengeance - at least once a week! I've got a lot of lost time to make up for.

While I'm doing this I will develop the underlying system and try to add new features. Hopefully the fact that I am using it will help me to identify shortcomings and possible improvements.

A great follow up album to their debut, Hot Fuss. Stand out tracks are Read My Mind and Sams Town.

Relaxing Reading

Labrynth by Kate Mosse

Labrynth book cover 3

Good summer reading, very much in the mould of The Da Vinci Code (but better writing). Another search for the grail and another wierd and secretive religous group.

Bulletproof Web Design book cover 5

An essential book for any web designer. This shows you how to create common web layouts using standard based layouts and avoid tables. It looks great and is full of priceless info.
